My Background
Before training to become a Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist, I worked in for many years in the NHS, including managing adult mental health services across Suffolk. I left to look after my children and then became an editor of a publishing company that I set up with my husband. Across the years I have managed staff, led teams, raised three children, delivered change, and experienced many of the highs and lows that come with work, family and personal life.
The common denominator?
My training as a hypnotherapist and my previous experience have many things in common: working as a guide, teaching new skills, helping with problem-solving and providing people with the tools they need to help them achieve their goals and live their best lives. I have always been fascinated by our ability to change the course of our lives by harnessing the power of our mind and building our resilience. This came to a fore when I turned to hypnosis to help me with chronic sleeping problems - I've never looked back!
My CBT-Hypnotherapy Training and Professional Membership
I qualified with a Higher Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapist after training with the UK College of Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy, which is the leading provider of evidence-based training of CBT-Hypnotherapy in the UK and the only one that is approved by the British Psychological Society.
I am a Registered Practitioner with the professional bodies, the General Hypnotherapy Register, and the National Council of Integrative Psychotherapists, which ensures that I maintain professional standards and keep up to date with my practice. Being an Integrative Psychotherapist means that I work with a range of tools and techniques across different areas of psychotherapy, selecting the ones that would help you most.
Post-Diploma Training
I enjoy learning and am constantly updating my knowledge and skills. As well as completing a Higher Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy (CBH), I have attended the following workshops (as well as extensive reading):
CBH for Insomnia (1 day)
CBH for Smoking Cessation (2 days)
CBH for Changing Addictive Behaviours (1 day)
CBT for Perfectionism (1 day)
Dr Donald Meichenbaum: Getting Better Outcomes: Core Tasks and Skills of Expert Psychotherapists (10 weeks)
Dr Donald Meichenbaum: Ordinary Magic: Building Resilience and Strengths Across the Lifespan (10 weeks)
I also...
... enjoy running and walking along the trails and coastal paths of North Norfolk – and taking photos; I hope you enjoy the selection I have used on my website. Going to the cinema, reading, eating, and the occasional gin are up there amongst my favourite pastimes.
